CSJE 210         1 credit         Shana Kroiz         T / 6:30 PM- 10:00 PM

New Age metals, specifically Niobium and Titanium lend
themselves to wonderful color possibilities in jewelry. In this seven
week intensive class, students explore surface coloration and
decoration using the electro-chemical process of anodizing. The
focus will be exploring coloring (anodizing), cutting, forming and
constructing jewelry and or small sculpture using titanium and
niobium alone or in conjunction with other metals and materials.
Various techniques in the process of anodizing will be explored
such as blending, masking; painting and color overlay in order to
create a richly colored surface. In addition to anodizing, other
techniques for incorporating color in metal work will be explored
including flocking, colored pencil, patinas and enamel paint.
